Sneak Peek
Read the opening of The Golden Ruled.
How the Story Developed
Lynn wrote The Golden Ruled in stages, beginning in National Novel Writers Month 2008. It went from more than about 200 manuscript pages in NaNoWriMo to about 500 pages in the second draft. Then with editorial advice, Lynn focused on three major characters from the original twelve. In 2016 it began to take final form and in 2018 she called it done. A number of friends read and liked it, but at that time Lynn was unsuccessful in finding an agent. In 2026, a friend read it and convinced Lynn that the story is timely and should come out. Lynn’s self-publishing adventure began.
Are you curious about what happened to the nine major characters who didn’t make the first book? They are minor characters in The Golden Ruled, where their experiences are only seen from the major characters’ point of view. There is a lot more story behind each of their appearances. Lynn loves those characters and is itching to make them the major characters in sequels to The Golden Ruled. But first she needs to TGR into readers’ hands.
Writing in Dystopian Times
In this website’s blog, called “Writing in Dystopian Times,” Lynn will share excerpts from the first draft, giving you a sneak peek into the backstory of characters you only meet briefly in her first book out.
She also will recount her experience in becoming a self-published author. It was interesting, frustrating and encouraging by turns.
Lynn is curious about why we love dystopian fiction. She is hosting a virtual book club to discuss some classic dystopian novels, starting with George Orwell’s 1984 and Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale.
Website Mission Statement
Lynn’s goals in publishing this website are (1) to sell The Golden Ruled directly to friends, family and folks who look for her author’s website online; (2) create a fun site for readers who enjoy dystopian fiction; and (3) publicize readings and other events at bookstores, etc., in the Puget Sound area.
In short, lynnadamsfiction.net exists to keep in touch with present and future readers of her novels and enjoy wide-ranging book talk with lovers of dystopian fiction.
Please join our reader community by signing up for the newsletter. Lynn plans for it to come out once every two weeks in 2026.
